I have an essay in the Washington Post today. Some people liked it. Many others didn't. The only thing I can say, think or feel is that I got people talking, and that I reached people. That's pretty much what I take away from this.
:-) I liked it. I went from college to married without ever being single, and I miss autonomy as well. It's actually most of the reason that I'm currently separated from my ex. I was tired of compromising what I wanted for him.
The truth is that we, even with partners, are the masters of our own lives. In that way, you are really only "you," even when you are part of a "we" or "us." I'm not sure if you have to give that up in a relationship.
Have you listened to Alan Watts' theories on love?

Thank you SO much for saying that! I'm so very glad to be able to reach people and I really appreciate your reaching out. :)
