L'Shana Tova
This is the first night of Rosh Hashanah, and I rang it in dancing my ass off in the Savidge Library.
It was a sweet beginning to what I hope will be a special year.
I begin this year with gratitude for my love, for my family, for my friends, for my kitty. I begin it with hope for the project to which I've given my heart and soul. I begin it with dedication to improving myself and to being there for the ones I love every step of the way.
Happy New Year.

All part of the creative process
I have done the following in and around my studio:
Sung
Danced
Cried
Laughed
Hung my head
Picked it up back again
Howled in triumph
Groaned in frustration
Taken pictures
Sketched
Talked on the phone, or tried to
Screamed at the trees
Played computer Mah-Jongg
Lit several short-lived fires
Took videos
... and oh yeah, wrote.
Lunch Poem No. 16
I'm hugging a blanket to my shoulders,
an L.L. Bean embrace.
Chanda left this morning.
I stood in Colony Hall and waited,
thanked her.
She is a stabilizing influence.
We talk of ghosts
here,
tombstones and Thornton,
the vapor trails of the past.
We fail to realize
the ghosts are us.
an L.L. Bean embrace.

I stood in Colony Hall and waited,
thanked her.
She is a stabilizing influence.
We talk of ghosts
here,
tombstones and Thornton,
the vapor trails of the past.
We fail to realize
the ghosts are us.

My dad visited
He was quite taken by the colony, and yet also said something that made me feel so much better: "You know, I gotta say that as I was driving up the hill, I was starting to feel a little creepy."
The isolation, the woods. The part of MacDowell that can be a challenge. He saw it immediately and he understood it, and it just made me feel so okay about my own struggles with that.
There are two people in the world who have this primal affect: my father and my mother. They have the ability to make me immediately feel better just by validating my feelings with a single sentence.
It is the power of blood.
Feeling good
The writing's going well this morning. Hit 13,000 words just now. Now drumming on my huge desk (Blake tells me it used to be part of a grand piano) and howling along with the Beatles' "Got To Get You Into My Life." Waiting for lunch!
