I didn’t love being single, but I didn’t mind it so much either. I had my little apartment, my cat. The stereotypical single girl’s life, but did that matter? I could have ridden free, lived unencumbered. I could just sit with Lilith right now with no worry of when I would have to head back, no one to whom I was obligated, no caretaking, maybe even no memory. Untrammeled, untriggered, unaffected.
