I'm terribly saddened at what happened to Mark Doty and Paul Lisicky in North Beach last night. Thankfully, they're safe. But you need to read this. You need to know that this happens here too, that homophobia is alive and well in the corners of what likes to believe itself to be America's most enlightened city.
