Now that I can put context to it, I've been watching Mike Daisey's "Secrets of the MacDowell Colony" series on YouTube. I've seen a few before, but now I really wanted to watch them since I could hopefully relate.
And oh YEAH I can.
An excerpt from the video below, and I hope I get the wording right: "It's a little bit like a gift, you know, even if you hate it, even if you can't stand it. What a gift it is to be taken out of ourselves and hopefully not be put back again." He's talking about egg salad sandwiches ... but only tangentially.
